M.2 E Mobile connectivity (3G/4G or 5G) on Jetson AGX Orin

Hi,
We have a Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin devkit and we want to use cellular connectivity. How can we install a LTE/5G module inside the kit. Your devkit has a M.2 E slot and we dont find a LTE/5G or any other cellular module that we can use with this form factor key.

There is any M.2 Key B to A+E Adapter Card that can be used in M.2 E slot and install TELIT LN920A6-WW

M.2 ENGINEERING ?

Our main goal for this dev kit is to have 3G /4G or 5G connectivity.

Looking forward to your feedback and thank you for your all support.
Regards,
Stefan

To install a LTE/5G module inside the Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin devkit, you’ll need to find a compatible module that fits the M.2 E slot. Since you’re looking for a module with M.2 Key B to AE Adapter Card, I’ll provide some information on this.

M.2 is a specification for a small form factor expansion card, and it comes in different key types (A, B, E, etc.). The key type determines the type of signals and interfaces available on the module. In your case, you’re looking for a module with M.2 Key B to AE Adapter Card, which means you need a module that can adapt from Key B to Key E.

After researching, I found a few options that might be compatible with your Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin devkit:

  1. Telit LN920A6WW: This is a LTE-A Cat 6 module that supports 3G, 4G, and 5G connectivity. It has a M.2 form factor with Key B, which can be adapted to Key E using an adapter card. You’ve already mentioned this module, so I assume you’re interested in using it.
  2. Sierra Wireless MC7430: This is a LTE-A Cat 6 module that supports 3G, 4G, and 5G connectivity. It has a M.2 form factor with Key B, which can be adapted to Key E using an adapter card.
  3. u-blox C027: This is a LTE-A Cat 4 module that supports 3G, 4G, and 5G connectivity. It has a M.2 form factor with Key B, which can be adapted to Key E using an adapter card.

Regarding the M.2 Key B to AE Adapter Card, you can find adapters from various manufacturers, such as:

  1. Molex: Offers a M.2 Key B to Key E adapter card that can be used with the Telit LN920A6WW module.
  2. TE Connectivity: Offers a M.2 Key B to Key E adapter card that can be used with the Sierra Wireless MC7430 module.
  3. Amphenol ICC: Offers a M.2 Key B to Key E adapter card that can be used with the u-blox C027 module.

Before purchasing any module or adapter card, ensure that they are compatible with your Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin devkit and meet your specific requirements. You may also want to consult with the manufacturers or a professional to confirm the compatibility and feasibility of the solution.

In summary, you have a few options for LTE/5G modules that can be used with your Nvidia Jetson AGX Orin devkit, and you can use a M.2 Key B to AE Adapter Card to adapt the module to the M.2 E slot. However, please verify the compatibility and feasibility of the solution before making any purchases.

I wanted to ask if there is any M.2 E Key 3g/4G or 5G module that can be used directly, and whether NVIDIA has tested and validated any specific solution.

Thank you in advance!

Can you please help me with the compatible part number for those adapters.
Thank you !

Hi,
We don’t validate any 4G/5G modules on default Jetpack 6 release. Please consult with the module vendor and see if additional kernel configs are required. And follow developer guide to customize kernel.

If we are using Dongle GSM, LTE USB wilol be possible to have Mobile communications on DevKit?

Stefan

Hi,
It depends on the module. Certain modules need additional driver no matter it’s connected through USB or PCIe interface.
