Materials applied to imported step file

When attempting to apply materials to an imported STEP file, It results in all sorts of funky textures. I’m not clear why this is happening. If I drag and drop simple geometry into the workspace and apply a material it looks just fine. Has anyone run into this?

The screen shot shows the strange result after applying a brushed aluminum material. This should looks smooth.

Seems like a mapping issue which I suppose this 3dmodel is not UV map properly. Not too sure what DCC you are using but information on what is UV incase you need it .
