Mesh Merge Utility possible to create under source Xform?

Hi Forum,

We have tried to use the Mesh Merge Utility tool but have faced some challenges. Our robot model has multiple sub-levels of Xforms each with a few meshes to hundreds in others, we want to merge these meshes but keep the hierarchy persistent.

If we merge anything now we will get a merged xform, but it will be in the outermost layer which is world in our case. We would like the merged mesh to be created under the xform where the meshes were initially selected for merging.

Is there a way to do this? Or is there a method to drag and drop the new merged mesh exactly in the same position in the xform?

Really we just want the merged mesh positioned as it is in outermost layer, but under the xform it was created from.

Hope you can help :)

Hi Forums, bumping this one as its still an issue. Currently getting around this by merging in Blender which is not ideal.

Hi @scn - Apologies for the delay in response. In future release, there will be support for this. For now, you can probably write a simple script to move the merged mesh under the xform you need to. Also, in the preferences, there is a setting for this, where changing hierarchy preserves the transformation.
