MIG not available on RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell – VBIOS requirement?

Hello,

We are currently trying to enable MIG (Multi-Instance GPU) on an NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPU, but MIG is not available.

From our understanding, MIG requires a minimum VBIOS version of 98.02.55.00.00, while the current GPU is running VBIOS version 98.02.52.00.02.

Below are the details of the GPU:

  • Product Name: NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition
  • Current VBIOS Version: 98.02.52.00.02
  • GPU Part Number: 2BB1-870-A1
  • Board Part Number: 900-5G144-2500-000

We would like to ask:

  1. Does this specific RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell model officially support MIG?
  2. Is MIG unavailable due to the current VBIOS version, or is it limited by SKU/design?
  3. If it is a VBIOS-related issue, is there an available VBIOS update to enable MIG?
  4. Are there any specific driver or software requirements for enabling MIG on this GPU?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

There’s a somewhat depressing thread here, which goes off on a few tangents, but has comments by an Nvidia person, Frank, towards the end.

yes, pls check here, about where to get a VBIOS update from, and why that seems so complicated… - apologies for that..
