We just got our MikroTik CRS804 switch, and attached 4x sparks - the fans are LOUD and spinning at max speed. The sparks are idle!
Should we tweak the fan curve? Or just replace them with 2x Noctua NF-A4x20 PWM fans?

Tweak the fan configs in the Router OS they are way too aggressively set. I had Claude reset mine so much better.
I use the Mikrotik CRS504 for my sparks. What helped me a but was to install the 7.21.5 firmware. It got noticeably quieter.
Second on checking the configuration, the fans should not spin at max speed at all with only 4 clients that can at most use half of the switch’s maximum bandwidth, never mind when they aren’t using it at all. I actually have that same switch with 4 sparks connected and the only time I’ve heard the fans spin to maximum speed was when I tested its operation.
How many sparks are you using with CRS504?

which cables are you using with this switch and the spark?
I don’t trust Claude, and now it’s telling me I need to buy:
AOC = Active Optical Cable. It’s a cable with the fiber-optic transceivers permanently built into both ends, so from the outside it looks and plugs in exactly like your current cables (QSFP56 on each end) — but internally it converts the electrical signal to light, sends it over a thin fiber, and converts it back at the other end.
These are apparently different from the cables I bought at microcenter…

@vgoklani Before changing the fan speeds I would recommend making sure your firmware is updated. That happened to me a few weeks ago and burned an entire afternoon figuring it out. As soon as I updated the firmware it fixed it and haven’t had a problem since.

Claude is now blaming the cables, these are the official “nvidia” cables from microcenter…
