As of recent I’ve been encountering serious issues using my external screens (using reverse prime) on my Lenovo ThinkPad P52 laptop. The screens regularly freeze for 5 - 10 seconds and once they do I have the following error message printed in dmesg.
[ 2018.881221] NVRM: GPU at PCI:0000:01:00: GPU-ec77ae47-ee89-c0fe-e709-3935dfd283b4
[ 2018.881225] NVRM: Xid (PCI:0000:01:00): 31, pid=4176, Ch 00000013, intr 10000000. MMU Fault: ENGINE CE0 HUBCLIENT_CE0 faulted @ 0x1_099f0000. Fault is of type FAULT_PTE ACCESS_TYPE_WRITE
This issue only occurs when external screens (they use the NVIDIA chip as they’re connected hardwired to it) are connected either directly to my laptop or via the docking station with PCI-E tunneling via thunderbolt. What could be causing this issue? I’m using kernel 5.11.22 with nvidia-drivers 465.31.
P.S.: This issue happens with the 460.xx driver version as wel.
P.P.S.: This happens frequently when using Google Chrome, but happens in other applications from time to time as well.
