Motherboard for Tesla D870

Hello,

When you look at NVIDA suggested motherboards for this it only suggests a few Server class models.

According to the specs it uses a PCIe16X Host adapter.

So will the Tesla D870 work with any motherboard that has PCIe16X slot ? Will it work with a Desktop Intel X38 Chipset motherboard ? or have to stick with NVIDIA chipset motherboards, like 680i or 780i ?

Ideally I dont want to use a server class motherboard so if anyone out there has any experience with no server motherboards, which ones have you used ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Jeff

The Tesla D870 deskside has been tested with a large number of workstations and desktops, including some mobos from SuperMicro and Tyan:

I am not sure if any of these PCs/mobos have the chipset you are interested in, but in general, it should work with any mobo that has a PCIe x16 slot. The issues, if any, usually center around SBIOS.

Which PC are you considering?
