My extension goes away if I click Layout - Animation

Let’s say I load my extension and have it docked where the property window is.

Then I switch to Layout - Animation in Create, my extension goes poof! (disappears).

Is there anyway to prevent this? Is this by design or a bug?

Thanks for reporting this. I’ll try to repro it on my end.

I have learned to wait to launch the extension until after I have switched to the Animation layout. There are times I need to switch back to the materials tab (default layout) and back and it is pain to have reload it.

Hi @DataJuggler. Thanks for reporting this. I wasn’t able to repro it in Code, but I was able to repro it in USD Composer. I think that any window that is not a part of the destination Layout should still stick around either docked or floating. That’s the behavior I’m seeing in Code. I’ve moved this to the USD Composer forum so that team can look into it.

I use Create more than Code except for creating the extension, so I never noticed. Yes, I agree any extension already visible should stay visible.
