My nvidia-smi is not identifying the driver installed on my laptop

I am using Lenovo Ideapad it has got the RTX 3050. I have installed the driver from the driver manager.

Tried driver 545, 555, now downgraded to 535 but did not worked.

The nvidia-smi could not communicate with the driver.

sudo nvidia-bug-report.sh gave this file

nvidia-bug-report.log (962.6 KB)

uname -r
6.7.0-060700-generic

I am on Linux Mint Mate Ubuntu based.

Feel free to ask any more information needed.

Hi there @oraonatula, welcome to the NVIDIA developer forums.

In your log, right at the top:

ERROR: You appear to be running an X server; please exit X before installing. For further details, please see the section INSTALLING THE NVIDIA DRIVER in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com.

if you tried to install different drivers, you might already have messed up the system to a degree where you should first purge all NVIDIA drivers AND REBOOT! before trying to install again, from the console, without “X” running.

Thanks.
