Maybe one of my jumper does not fit correctly on the pins ? (I think the black one, because its size is a little different from the yellow one). Can you point me on a shop where I can buy some jumpers of the right size ?
Hi,
You need to understand what is the subject we are talking about here.
The reason I asked you to buy a usb-ttl cable is to dump the log “from jetson”.
So when I said I need a serial console log from jetson. I mean you need to open minicom /dev/ttyUSB0, dump and share what you saw from this “serial console”.
Dumping a dmesg from your “host” is just to make sure this serial console is working fine. It is not a log from jetson.
I already knew you can dump minicom log in previous conversations, so sharing me a dmesg from your host with usb-ttl cable case does not help here.
Please tell me if you are okay to understand above. You need to understand why the website asks you to try that but not just blindly follow.
Also, if you can see this log in your host dmesg, then it may be the timing to run sdkmanager…

Does lsusb show device with this? If not, please again, share me the serial console log of the whole process… I mean log from /dev/ttyUSB0…

nothing
So please share the serial console log from jetson too.
Sorry I don’t know how to do that. You haven’t explained how to do it.
…I already explained. And you already did that before…
Just as what you are doing in the beginning of this topic.
sure,I ran minicom and I configured it as explained on the tutorial. This is what I see :
Welcome to minicom 2.7.1
OPTIONS: I18n
Compiled on Aug 13 2017, 15:25:34.
Port /dev/tty8, 10:16:17
Press CTRL-A Z for help on special keys
Ok, so when the power LED is ON with the jumper on the recovery mode pin, there is no log from the /dev/ttyUSB0 ?
—> Just as what you are doing in the beginning of this topic.
the messages that you see on that topic has been taken when I have booted the board in normal mode
—> Ok, so when the LED is ON with the jumper on the recovery mode pin, there is no log from the /dev/ttyUSB0 ?
I never seen a message shown under the sentence “Press CTRL-A Z for help on special keys”
—> in the meantime new messages appears on the dmesg log :

Hi,
Ok, then you can only try other host at this moment.
I think your jetson is in recovery mode. But somehow the usb connection is not stable.
That is why you see disconnect log.
[ 7380.306696] usb 1-13.1: Manufacturer: NVIDIA Corp.
[ 7382.963725] usb 1-13.1: USB disconnect, device number 25
ok.
I’ve fixed my old computer and I’ve installed ubuntu 18.04 there and I repeated the steps to put the board in recovery mode. Unfortunately it is not recognized at all.
Then the jetson nano maybe broken from hardware. What I can suggest is file a RMA request.
There is no options for RMA, nvidia can only replace the device if it’s under warranty.
Not sure, but you may try to remove the jumper after 2 seconds.
See this:
3. Power up by toggling power button.
(The power button is the left most one of 3 buttons.)
4. Place the Jetson Developer Kit into force recovery mode as follows:
- Press and hold the force recovery button.
(The force recovery button is the middle one of 3 buttons.)
5. Toggle reset button.
(The reset button is the right most one of 3 buttons.)
6. Wait two seconds and release the force recovery button.
I suspect that you are talking about the model A01. I have the model B01.
I also have a B01 devkit, I have two cables connected for recovery button. For flashing, I power up with the cables shorted for a few seconds, then unshort these, then check if lsusb from host shows the NVIDIA USB device.
Maybe it would also help to have another cable for emulating reset button.
Anyway, can you show me some pictures instead of writing ? I will understand better in this way. Better if a short video. I don’t understand what to do only with a textual explanation.
Sorry, I’m just trying to help for common sense, but I’m not paid by you nor NVIDIA.
Better try yourself and understand.
I’m really sure that your reply is not polite. From what you said it seems that you are very addicted to money. But I didn’t suppose that you were. I’m very disappointed by this kind of reply. Common sense can’t work with the users unexperienced with the electrical / electronical components. To the first layer of frustration I feel to probably have a broken board, another layer of frustration has been added, the one I feel reading your reply. You have an high level of empathy. My compliments. It’s a real shame because you started well, with an excellent generous attitude and you wasted everything like that.
