My Xaiver has a full file system, resulting to fail to boot to desktop

Hi. Please help me to solve the problem. My Xaiver has a full file system, resulting to fail to boot to desktop. I think a few files need to be deleted. But deleting files requires a working desktop. So what can I do now?

Hi,

Are you able to dump the boot up log with us to check why it fails to boot up?

If you are able to use either serial console, non-GUI desktop (e.g., CTRL-ALT-F2), or ssh, then you can do this to delete some content. Do you have non-GUI access?

If not, then you can clone the system (a long process), remove content from the loopback mounted clone on your PC, and then flash the updated clone back in place.

Cloning in and of itself isn’t too hard, but your PC will have to have about 35GB of spare space since one of the files cloned is the entire size of the eMMC rootfs partition, plus a “sparse” version of this. It isn’t a bad idea to have a clone as a backup mechanism if you have the disk space.
