I have installed the latest CUDA on two machines. One is a desktop with a GT 210 card, the other is a notebook with GTX 8800M. Both say that no CUDA device is detected. The specs for both devices show that they have CUDA cores present.
The latest CUDA version is not compatible with either of those GPUs, which are both pretty old.
The last CUDA version compatible with those GPUs was CUDA 6.5, and the last driver versions compatible with those GPUs were r340 or r343 branch drivers.
