No Matter what

I’m close to giving up with Omniverse, i have not been able to install it and run a local server at all. Always getting Credentials are not known etc. I have tied

A)Accepting all default paths and have 1,2gb spare
B) Put in my details countless times, the same every time pretty much
C) Uninstalled everything
D) Uninstalled Browswer
E) Ran the Cleaner
F) Rebooted X Number of times

Rinse and repeat

And yes i have a 4090 Card
Yes i updated all drivers from NVidia today

Asi say close to giving up…

It is a bit hard to understand what the problem is here, but I’d like to suggest the following:

I am not sure if vanilla Kit would require some configuring, but I am sure Isaac Sim would run the livestream mode. So, I’d test with Isaac Sim.

I cannot even get to the point of creating a local server on my pc. Therefore cannot even create a project, so cannot even test anything.

It’s falling at the first hurdle, square one, the install stage.

Could it be a permissions issue, e.g. you might need administrative privileges? Or maybe the ports which Kit uses already in use by some other process?

Can you try running a different server, such as a Flask/FastAPI app in development mode, on the same ports which Kit uses?

My PC , full admin rights, I cannot install a local server at all. No matter how many times I’ve installed and uninstalled and cleaned , that’s why it is so frustrating, no doubt it will be something. Obvious.

If I can’t install a server, no point in installing anything else right ?

last time i checked, localhost server is only necessary if you plan on integrating with other DCCs and utilize live link feature. otherwise, you can just save to local drives. which kit app are you trying to use?

if you insist on setting one up, you could try using the following credentials:

  • user: admin
  • pass: admin

or

  • user: omniverse
  • pass: omniverse

I did not know that. I did not pick up on this at all. Thank you, I had not decided the kit app yet due to the inability to create said local server, what do you recommend ?
I plans to use , Revit , Unreal Engine, 3DS Max and maybe Cesium Ion.

Thank you for not giving up on me.

Yes let me clarify. You do NOT need Nucleus or any kind of local host. Just ignore Nucleus and start having fun with USD Composer or Issac Sim. I am not sure what tutorial you are following but we have never stated that Nucleus is required. It is just used for a “test server” if you wish to set it up. Omniverse works just great with normal, regular windows file system.

Can you point me to the documentation, or video where you were told you had to install Nucleus ?

It’s all good the previous person answered my question, I have since installed it and working on local file structure now.
Now I need to work out what I’m going to use it for.
I use Revit, Unreal Engine, Cesium and QGIS.
Primarily a Revit user though.
A real interest in the mapping side of things.

Great thanks. I am just curious from our documentation point of view, where you were given the impression that Nucleus is required? That way we can address it.

In fairness, I cannot pinpoint how where I read/ interpreted the need for it. It’s sorted now, and that really ticks all the boxes.
A local server has also been installed now using Admin and Admin as User and Pass.

I think from a community point of view though, something should be said very early that you don’t actually need it, maybe I’ve skipped over that if it already exists.

Ok Thanks !
