As you read in the title, my victus laptop has been getting shitty battery life, fans ramped up for no particular reason.
Opening the performance tab in nvidia app as well as cpu Z and nvidia-smi all show the same thing, 18 watts on idle and max clock speed as well as vram clock
Searching on reddit led me to this: Hıgh clock speed RTX 4060 mobile while idle : r/buildapc
If you read on the OPs issue he suggested starting the control panel and pausing the image preview
OMG, this insanely weird fix seems to works, clock idles down to a healthy 300mhz, gpu board power draw comes down to 3W and everything seems really quiet and smooth.
but as soon as i close the control panel its back to draining my laptop and max clock speed??
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL WHY THIS WORKS?
Is this a bug or some setting i need to change
What i have tried other than this workaround:
power management in nvcpl to normal
turning battery boost on
disabling hardware scheduling windows
disabling acceleration in edge
EVERY SINGLE THING U CAN THINK OF
PLEASE HELP
