Nvidia 430.14 -- Monitor disconnects when X starts

After upgrading to nvidia driver 430.14, my monitor disconnects as soon as I start X. I tried turning the monitor off and on. I also tried to kill X from an SSH session. Neither of these resulted in the monitor being reconnected. I have to downgrade to 418.74 in order to be able to get a working X session

I see these messages in my journalctl

I’m facing the same problem.

If I turn on KMS, then my screen turns black even before X starts. With KMS off, I get access to console, but screen shuts down when I start X.

As a workaround, what I can do is to plug the monitor to the onboard video adapter, then start X and it will turn on, then I can re-plug the monitor on the Nvidia card.
