Since upgrading my desktop from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04 have I noticed a recurring error message when updating software. The error message reads:
“ignoring configuration file that cannot be opened: /etc/ld.so.conf.d/nvidia_settings.conf: No such file or directory”
The mentioned nividia_settings.conf file turns out to be a link pointing at file /etc/alternatives/nvidia_settings_conf. This, in turn, turns out to also be a link. However, this second link is broken: it points to a non-existing file /usr/lib/nvidia-settings-319-updates/ld.so.conf .
The 319 driver is a very old one and my computer has been upgraded many times over the years. My computer is now using driver 390. Apparently was this configuration file not updated and is it now pointing to something which does not exist any longer.
My question: to what file should the configuration be pointing?
