I’m working on Ubuntu 16.04 and using the nvidida-440 driver.
Every second week or so the system fails to load the driver on boot and I’m stuck on a login loop.
When I switch to terminal and check nvidia-smi it says: “NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn’t communicate with the NVIDIA driver".
I can fix the problem by reinstalling the driver and the system will run perfectly for another two weeks.
Although it isn’t that bad it is quite annoying.
Any idea why this could be happening?
