NVIDIA sdkmanager not providing releases for ubuntu 2204?

I just installed sdk manager 1.8.4.10431 on my ubuntu 20.04 system but was met with this disappointing screen after logging in telling me there are no available releases for ubuntu2204:

I don’t know why this is still happening in October 2022 when compatibility for 20.04 was added months ago.

That’s in planning as the SDK manager is easy to upgrade by itself, but it’s the entry for all NVIDIA SDK products, and many of them are not ready to support Ubuntu 22.04 yet.

So my current solution is to modify /usr/lib/os-release and fool the system into thinking the Ubuntu version is 18.04 (see this resource)

Make sure to revert the document to its original state after you’re done using SDKManager or else it may cause system errors.
