nvidia-smi (390.48) power management object update or enable

I was trying to measure GPU power using nvidia-smi and have a problem.

When I check the device information with nvidia-smi, it snows power management object is N/A.
When I do “nvidia-smi --query-gpu=power.management”, it shows “Not supported”.

I am using Ubuntu 16.04, cuda 9.1, nvidia-smi 390.48 with Geforce device 780.

My colleague measured the power of this device once installed in another machine, but doesn’t remember what the detailed setup was. He told me nothing special on setup, but I cannot reproduce it.

Is there any way to enable or update power management object in setup?

I tried to find or search any hint for this, but couldn’t find one… It seems like it is only me having such a problem. :( Please help!

It’s simply not supported on your device, sorry.

I’m having the same issue but for me the output is “N/A”.

Is this the same as not supported?

Yes, N/A means not available.
