Omniverse on Mac OS

Hi, I’m an AEC simulation developer. I’m planning to use Omniverse this year, but it’s too bad that it’s not available on Mac OS.

I looked through the forum and found the latest Mac OS questions two years ago. It says NVIDIA has a plan, but can I know the progress and the expected date? I would very appreciate it if I could test in the native.

You cannot build on a Mac. We apologize if there has been some confusion, but we have never said that or published that anywhere. In that thread you referenced, I said that we have no intention of doing this, so I am not sure where you got the impression, but no, you cannot develop Omniverse on a Mac. We are strictly Windows and Linux.

The reason is simple. Omniverse requires an RTX Graphics card from NVIDIA. Mac OS and Metal does not support RTX. It is simply a hardware issue. Not an OS issue.

However, the platform is moving towards using APIs for developers to use on any platform. All web based with React. So if you are a developer, you will be able to start calling the apis through a browser, on a Mac. But that would be strictly a web-based call to a remote Windows or Linux server, through our Nvidia Service or yours. So code development yes, but not running the full Nvidia Omniverse RTX.
