Hi, Brandon here. Currently, I am using an AWS EC2 Nvidia Optimized AMI Instance to run Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab. I am able to run the scripts on the instance via ssh for Isaac Sim and Lab but when I want to view the window using the omniverse streaming client, it only work when I use my phone hotspot and not on my university’s wifi network. The output of the kit-remote.log file for when I try to launch the Omniverse Streaming Client is as such:

Could someone help me out in debugging the issue? Thank you.

Hi Brandon – sorry for the delayed response.

Looking at your log, the error points directly to the cause:

```auto
Failed to create the RTSP session: WebSocket Exception: Cannot upgrade to WebSocket
connection: Service Unavailable
```

Your setup is: Isaac Sim running on the AWS EC2 instance (`13.229.200.180`), and the
Omniverse Streaming Client running on **your local laptop** connected to university WiFi.
The streaming client connects via WebRTC, which requires UDP for the media stream
(video frames travel over SRTP/UDP). Your university’s WiFi proxy passes TCP/HTTP but
silently drops UDP – which is why it works on your phone hotspot (open network) but
not on campus.

Note: **the restriction is on your laptop’s side** (university WiFi), not on the AWS
EC2 side. That matters for choosing the right fix.

### Why the Docker Compose Web Viewer does not help here

Isaac Sim 6.x includes an official Docker Compose Web Viewer, but it does not eliminate
the UDP requirement for remote browsers. The web viewer container only serves the
HTML/JS page over TCP 8210. Once the page loads, your browser opens its own direct
WebSocket (TCP 49100) and WebRTC media stream (UDP 47998) to the Isaac Sim container –
the web viewer is out of the loop for the actual video. Both containers run with
`network_mode: host`, so there is no internal Docker hop that UDP could stay inside.
Your laptop still needs UDP 47998 to reach EC2, and university WiFi still blocks it.

### What actually works: run the streaming client on the EC2 server itself

The fix is to run the streaming client **on the EC2 instance** (where UDP is unrestricted),
not on your university laptop. A community write-up for exactly this topology is here:

[Running Isaac Sim on a TCP-only server (forum/386592)](https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/run-isaacsim-on-a-tcp-only-server/386592)

The approach:

```auto
[University laptop] --TCP only--> noVNC (on EC2)
                                      |
                               TurboVNC virtual desktop (on EC2)
                                      |
                           Omniverse Streaming Client (on EC2)
                                      |
                                 UDP loopback
                                      |
                                 Isaac Sim (on EC2)
```

All UDP stays on the EC2 instance (loopback). Your laptop only needs one TCP port open
to reach noVNC – which university WiFi handles without issue.

Since this topic has had no activity for over two years, I am closing it now.
If you are still experiencing this issue, please open a new topic with your current
Isaac Sim version and we will be happy to help.
