OnShape on Jetson Orin Nano

Hi,

I was quite disappointed when I tried to convert the simplified model of my robot from OnShape to URDF. OnShape doesn’t use GPU. I tried to fix this issue by upgrading the JetPack to version 6.0 rev.2 but it didnt’t help. The only change is that Firefox supports WebGL but Chromium and Firefox still only work with CPU which gives me the FPS of aprox. 0.5. All CPU cores usage is between 95 - 100% but GPU is not used when I check it with jtop. Is there a fix that I can use?

Hi,

Since OnShape is a third-party library, it’s recommended that you check with them to see if they support GPU and the Jetson platform.

How do you infer your robot model?
In general, we recommend users run it with TensorRT since it’s well-optimized for NVIDIA’s GPU including Orin.

Thanks.

Hi,

I’m not sure that we’re talking about the same thing. Well, try to forget that I wrote about the conversion to URDF. This will be done with a special plugin and it’s not what I’m trying to solve at the moment. Maybe later. Just think of OnShape as a cloud CAD software. So what if I’m about to create the 3D drawing of my robot from the scatch. So, I’m writing about 3D modeling. I don’t think that OnShape has any special requirements to WebGL. If Ubuntu with Jetpack fully supports WebGL for Firefox and Chromium then everything should be OK.
