Hi guys.
I have GEFORCE GT 540m. I’d like to know if there are any news about optimus technology for linux.
I use linux mint x64.
How can I solve the problem with this technology? There is a solution?
Sorry for my imperfect english.
Thanks

First of all you are in the wrong forum. This the cuda forum. I have Acer 4830tg with 540m card. I use ubuntu 12.04 with kernel 3.2. Bumblebee gives optimus support. Use the instructions from here Bumblebee - Ubuntu Wiki. You can choose which driver you use (nouveau or the x-swat/x-updates, I use the the x-swat).
(I was not able to make it work for Ubuntu 12.10).
Thanks pasoleatis.
I have 2 questions:
what is the difference between nouveau and the x-swat/x-updates?
this is driver for my card (21/1/13): Page Not Found | NVIDIA; if I install this driver, can it solve the problem automatically?
Readme about optimushttp://it.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/310.32/README/optimus.html
I have no idea about differences I am suing the x-swat because otherwise cuda does not work. if you install that driver I do not think it will work. I can only advice about what I used and worked for me.The second page looks very tedious to set-up. I jsutuse the easiest/fastest way yo setup optimus and cuda on my laptop.
ok, thanks for the information!
