I have 5 Orin Development Kits.
I connect them to another computer directly over ethernet to a dedicated ethernet card on an Intel machine.
I expect that the ethernet link comes up every time I power up the Orin kits.
However, that does not happen.
Sometimes the ethernet link does not come up, for specific dev kits, meaning the intel computer’s ethernet interfaces stay down after the connected dev kits are powered up.
The LEDs on the ethernet card does not glow either.
I have tested this on the set of 5 Orin dev kits with an automated power cycling set up with >3600 power cycles
This failure occurs on some kits only.
On the kit where this failure occurs, it occurs on some power ups. Frequency of failure varies across the kits.
Out of 5 kits, 3 kits showed such a failure.
The issue is not with the ethernet card: I confirmed it by rotating the kits.
The issue is not related to the Jetpack or Pinmux either ( in my understanding) as the phy itself fails to bring the link up and LEDs also do not light up.
This seems like a hardware issue with the ethernet phy on the device.
Is this a known issue?
Has nvidia tested the Orin devkits with >1000 powercyles?
Is there a known root cause for this issue?
