Orin fails to boot after 5.1 update

Some more info:

  1. peripherals: wireless keyboard/mouse usb reciever, DP to HDMI cable, mini usb to usb cable for serial console logs, usb type-c power cable.

  2. tried flash 5.1.1 quite a few times using vm ubuntu 20.04, all same result: can’t start using direct boot, and end up in attemptting recovery boot mode. even recovery boot mode won’t show any shell on display. So display loses signal.

  3. tried falsh 5.1.1. from vm ubuntu 18.04 (upgrade to LTS following this thread), but still same boot up issue

  4. tried flash JP5.1.1 using direct ubuntu host 20.04 without vmware, same boot up issue

  5. tried to boot with ethernet cable connected, same issue

  6. tried to flash 5.0.2 from vm ubuntu 20.04, same issue
