PCIe Bus Error with Orin Nx on custom board

We are bringing up a custom board for the Orin NX and are using Jetpack 7.2.1. We’ve connected it like the dev kit for everything we are using. I’ve updated the Pinmux and to disable the unused interfaces. I can flash NVME drive connected to C4 and boot up, but I am seeing the following error:

[ 14.398784] nvme 0007:01:00.0: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Correctable, type=Physical Layer, (Receiver ID)
[ 14.399098] nvme 0007:01:00.0: device [1d97:5220] error status/mask=00000001/0000e000
[ 14.399343] nvme 0007:01:00.0: [ 0] RxErr (First)

This prints out over and over and I’m not sure why. I don’t see these on the dev kit. Wondering if reducing the link speed would make a difference, I edited the device-tree to set PCIE Gen3 with “max-link-speed = <0x3>”, but lspci always shows it is at Gen4. I’ve verified in /proc/device-tree that the max-link-speed is set to 3. I the link speed on the dev kit, but it behaved the same as our custom board.

probably the hardware SI issue.

Reducing link speed might help but won’t really resolve the issue. And most likely your method to update device tree didn’t take effect.

We’ll look more at the SI issue.

For the devicetree, why would my changes be reflected in /proc/device-tree but not take effect? I’ve updated the devicetree in Linux_for_Tegra/kernel/dtb/.

Please show us your full steps for doing device tree update…

Found the issue with the devicetree. I mistakenly thought we were using C4 but we were using C7.
