I’m designing a carrier card that will connect to the Orin NX module over the PCIe interface. I am hoping that my carrier card can use it’s own reference clock and not require connection to the modules’ PCIe reference clock. So:
1- “Working as a root port, does Orin NX need to drive endpoint devices’ reference clocks from its?”
2- “Working as an endpoint, does Orin NX need to be driven by the root port’s reference clock?”
Please refer to the Design Guide. Same clock must be connected to all devices while maintaining skew <= 12 ns between devices. Orin doesn’t support external reference clock when acting as root port.
