Bug Description
When I maximize a window to full screen, I encounter a phantom bar at the top of the screen. This bar has the same height as the window header and appears to disrupt the correct window rendering. The issue affects the window’s visual rendering and interaction behavior.
The issue started after I upgraded to Fedora 41 and upgraded the respective NVidia drivers. I tried to use older driver versions, but the problem persists.
I attached a video recording and will send the nvidia-bug-report result file to linux-bugs@nvidia.com. Please let me know which other details I can provide to diagnose this problem. I am not sure how to investigate it further.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open any window and maximize it to full screen.
- Observe a black phantom bar at the top of the screen.
- Interact with the window using clicks or other inputs.
Observed Behavior
- The window content is rendered one bar’s height lower than it should be, leaving a black phantom bar at the top of the screen.
- Interacting with the window requires clicking in positions as if the window were correctly rendered, but because it is visually displaced, the interactions feel misaligned.
- The phantom bar sometimes blinks and appears to display fragments of multiple windows or graphical artifacts.
- Note: The blinking effect does not appear in the attached video recording but can be observed in real time.
Expected Behavior
When a window is maximized to full screen, it should render seamlessly, covering the entire screen without any visual displacement or phantom artifacts.
Additional Information
- Impact: This issue makes it difficult to use the application in full-screen mode, as clicks and interactions are misaligned with the visual rendering of the window.
- Appearance: The phantom bar is black in color and often blinks, rendering fragments of other windows or graphical glitches.
- Attachments: A video recording of the issue is included with this report. Please note that the blinking effect of the phantom bar is not visible in the recording.
