Please enable CIFS_SMB2 by default in future versions of JetPack

Hi,

the default configuration of the SMB module as it is provided in JetPack has the SMB2 protocol disabled.
If the intention is to have SMB support enabled in JetPack, it would be a very good idea to enable V2, as SMB V1 is not used anywhere where security is a concern (see https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Storage-at-Microsoft/Stop-using-SMB1/ba-p/425858)

As it was apparent from other posts, recompiling the custom Jetson kernel can be quite difficult for some users (see https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1047880/jetson-tx1/mount-network-folder-samba-cifs/3 or https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1047191/jetson-agx-xavier/how-to-mount-windows-shared-folder-on-xavier-/post/5325668/#5325668), Nvidia could just release the JetPack with this enabled out of the box, so that users can mount Samba shared right away.

Can you confirm if this will be done in a JetPack release in the near future?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi peter
Thanks for you suggestion, will have report it to team to consider.

Yes please! It took me forever to find out why I cannot mount my SMB drive on my jetson, until I found out I had to allow SMBv1 on my NAS. Now I am worried about the security. Any updates on this?

Sorry to tell we have public source for customized kernel may not enable it in default for this.

Thanks

Please follow below document for customized kernel.
