I am using version 4.0.0-usd.201.1.
It seems that the material may or may not be reflected when importing USD.
What is the cause of this?
Also, please let me know if there are any recommended settings for how to manage materials in USD files.
■import succeeds
■Import fails and material is not reflected
@KuriyamaKazuki i am just a fellow user, but could you elaborate on how you are importing the assets? for example, did you download the MDLs? also, it would provide more context by screenshoting what the incorrect asset (realistic wine glass model) looks like inside Blender on your end for repro purposes.
and my opinion is it’s tricky with USDs sourced from third party venders as you can never tell how they were created (whether it’s done using built in USD exporter or a different Blender connector build). so i always err on the side of not expecting 1:1 result when comparing to vendor’s thumbnails or fixing materials after the fact, especially with shader with translucency/translucency.

The method of importing assets is as shown in this capture.
You can see from the second image below that the skateboard material is displayed correctly.
for example, did you download the MDLs?
I’m not sure I understand you well enough: MDL stands for Material Definition Language, right? What does it mean to download a language?
you are correct about what the acronym stands for. i was actually referring to the MDL download option listed on CGTrader. i haven’t gotten around to test that file, so i can’t say what it contains, how it differs from the usd download, and why it’s a separate download altogether. out of curiosity, does the wine bottle usd displays correctly in OV apps like Composer?
