Possibly defective Jetson AGX Orin DevKit: cannot configure at boot

I’ve gone through most all steps I can think of, but the result is the same: I cannot configure the jetson.
My setup is as in the headless setup guide:
. linux pc
. usb micro cable
. sudo tio /dev/ttyACM0
What happens:
Absolutely nothing.
It just hangs.

So, I tried everything: monitor/keyboard, no dice.

When I put it into force recovery mode, with the serial terminal to ttyACM0 (and the rest; same result), it gives me the boot log… but I don’t see anything wrong with it; it looks like the boot log of my working jetson. At the end, it says “jetson still needs to be configured”, so I exit / re-connect, and once more, it hangs.

I’ve tried to re-flash / image it with the sdkmanager, but it won’t detect it.

Since the normal ways, the force recovery way, and the sdkmanager all couldn’t seem to connect or interface with the jetson… I feel like its defective?
Support said I had to confirm with the forum, to make sure.

It seems many things to check here

Start from the basic questions first

  1. Is this a NV devkit or custom board?

  2. There should not be any “log” from recovery mode unless the flash started. But you also told us you cannot flash a board with sdkmanager. It sounds a conflict comment to me. How did you put the board into recovery mode exactly? I guess you didn’t put the board into recovery mode at all.

Sorry, was on holiday.

  1. This is the NV devkit (see title)
  2. When plugged into the micro-usb serial console, at boot, I can stream the boot/kernel logs, and it ends at “now please configure”. I think you’re right, that this is not because of force recovery mode, and if so, then I cannot seem to enter force recovery mode either. Regardless if I get the startup logs via micro usb serial first, or wait till after boot to connect to serial, it still hangs at the configure step.

Hi,

It sounds more like you don’t know how to put the board into recovery mode.

You should check the devkit user guide first.
