Prime-select Nvidia won't let my new Asus G14 Boot

I have a brand new Asus G14 Zephyrus 2023 edition with a GTX 4090.

I am running Ubuntu 22.10.1, I have kernel 6.6.6 installed and the latest Nvidia drivers.

When I select intel mode (actually using the AMD integrated) it boots and runs fine.

I tried booting into Nvidia but every time I do I enter the password to unlock the disk encryption and then the loading circle spins either forever, loading circle freezes or it disappears.

Any idea on how I can debug and fix this?

Running nvidia-smi results in

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.

I have to boot with prime-select intel, I don’t know if that affects nvidia-smi output

Please delete /etc/X11/xorg.conf

You are a goddamn genius.

Initially, it didn’t work. I had to run update-initramfs -u after deletion.

Thank you so much!
