Problem connecting up external USB3 drive

I am looking into a project where we will be using lots of FFT as we chose this board for test but i have a problem with adding external drives.

Connected currently is a keyboard dongle for the mouse/keyboard.

If i connect anything like a USB3 HD or SSD the system mouse and keyboard stop working correctly.

I can tab between windows, but not every key is recognised.

Anyone had the same problem and is there a solution as we need to be able to record data over a long period of time hence the need for the external drive.

Hi,
Please share more detail about your usecase. Does FFT stand for ‘Fast Fourier Transform’?

Yes FFT is Fast Fourier Transform.

But my problem is connecting any wireless keyboard/mouse and an external ssd causes the mouse and keyboard to be nearly unusable.

How are you powering the SSD? If via the USB3 port then maybe the SSD is trying to draw more power than your power supply can provide and it’s causing a voltage drop.

Im powering over USB3 and tried different types, power supply is 3.5A, but I will source a 4A one.

Wired keyboard and mouse work fine.
