Problems installing OS image on AGX Thor

I created an image on USB drive with Balena and jetsoninstaller-r39.2.0-2026-06-01-23-53-13-arm64.iso file. I have these issues:

  1. I can’t find hashes for this file to verify file integrity
  2. My USB drive is not detected in USB-C port 5a, but detected in USB-A port. My drive is a SAMSUNG MUF-64AB/AM FIT Plus 64GB.

I don’t know that following is fully equivalent to fresh flash, but it worked for me to update to Jetpack 7.2

Edited /etc/apt/sources.list.d/

deb https://repo.download.nvidia.com/jetson/common r39.2 main
deb https://repo.download.nvidia.com/jetson/som r39.2 main
deb https://repo.download.nvidia.com/jetson/ffmpeg r39.2 main

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade

I was installing on a new hardware with blank NVMe. I completed the installation successfully. My post is about pain points I encountered. They can be resolved by:

  1. Publishing the hashes for OS image file.
  2. Updating Quick Start Guide — Jetson AGX Thor Developer Kit - User Guide page, which contains wrong instructions.

Hi,

Could you let me know which instructions were incorrect? If they’re confusing users, we should fix them.

Thanks

Quick Start Guide instructs to:

“Attach the bootable installation USB stick (that you created using Etcher on the PC) either on the USB Type-A port or on the USB-C port of Jetson AGX Thor Developer Kit.”

USB stick is recognized only in USB-A port not in USB-C port as I wrote in my post above.

Hi,

It looks like your USB stick is a native Type-A drive. Are you using a Type-A-to-Type-C adapter to plug it into the USB-C port?

Thanks

Of course. How else would I be able to plug it into USB-C port?

Hi,

We have confirmed that our native USB-C USB drive can be detected by AGX Thor; however, there are currently issues when using a USB-C ISO USB. We will investigate this further with our internal team.

In the meantime, please use a USB-A USB drive to flash the ISO image in USB-A port.

Thanks

Please change the wording of Quick Start Guide until the issue is resolved. I wasted some time trying to install from USB-C.

Hi,

Update: For anyone installing the ISO via a Type‑C USB drive, please connect it to the J82 port. The J81 port is currently experiencing issues.

Thanks
