In the past, PGI has not implemented quad precision, real(16), because there was no hardware that supported it. That is no longer the case with the introduction of Power9. As PGI presumably supports real(8) on Power9, when will that be extended to real(16)?
At least one company, Raptor, is now selling a board and systems based on Power9. So it appears to be going main-stream.
An update please.
