Quadro T1000 video freezes on a Dell 7750 laptop when the system is inactive

The video is freezing when the system is inactive. In order to recover, I have to hard reset the machine. (a Dell Precision 7750, running RHEL 8.3)

RHEL technicians state that the problem may be with the NVIDIA driver’s power management.

Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root after the issue hit and attach the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to your post.

Here’s the bug report. It was created immediately after a system hard restart. the system monitors were off and although the Power button was lit, no mouse or keyboard activity woke the machine up.

FYI, I first tried to upload this file directly to the post, but didn’t see an upload or attach feature.

Blessings,
Earl

Unfortunately, log persitence is turned off so all logs are lost after a reboot. Please turn an journal persistence
https://access.redhat.com/solutions/696893
and create a new log after the freeze occured again.
Meanwhile, please check if the kernel parameter
intel_idle.max_cstate=1
works around the freeze.

OK. Journal persistence is now on. I’ll wait to test the kernel parameter until after the next freeze. That will probably happen overnight.

Here’s the bug report. This time, the monitors froze while I was moving the mouse.

Earl

No nvidia related errors visible. The only issue I can see is with some “Dell usb keyboard hub” which gets removed/added/removed/added…alongside with all your input devices (logitech receiver).Do you have some port replicator connected? Does the system freeze as well if you remove it?
