have seen very fast the talk, and in the abstract new Optix based on LLVM mentioned but in the talk all I can see about future Optix releases is full exposure of texture unit capabilities like texture arrays, cube map textures, etc… which is very nice…
some ETA of some Optix beta (3.9? or 4.0 as requires new LLVM backend?) with these expanded texture support?
Also seems that even CUDA 7.5 RC doesn’t support VS2015 so Optix VS2015 support is far away, right?
the expanded texture support is supported even in Optix Prime, right?
Expect no comments on any product schedule questions.
There was an earlier talk about future OptiX developments on the GTC 2015.
Search for the “Innovations in OptiX” GTC 2015 talk here
Click the Watch Now link and skip to minute 19 in the presentation.
There are a lot more OptiX presentations there.
"the expanded texture support is supported even in Optix Prime, right? "
That question does not apply. OptiX Prime is a ray intersection API which doesn’t know about textures.
What you do with the hit results for shading is fully under your control but also your responsibility.
That’s also discussed from minute 25 in that same GTC 2015 presentation.
