Running operf on NVIDIA Jetson TX2

Hi *,

I am trying to run operf(oprofile.sourceforge.net) system profiler on NVIDIA Jetson TX2 and the first thing it checks is to see the number of online CPUs by checking this path:

/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/online

Since this path isn’t available on my Jetson TX2, the operf throws runtime error.

I did some research on how to enable it and It looks like I don’t have CPU HOTPLUG enabled in my kernel. I also checked these two post :

  2. CPU cores offline, had to manually enable? - Jetson TK1 - NVIDIA Developer Forums

As mentioned in the 2nd link, I also don’t have “cpuquiet” in my Jetson TX-2.

How do I enable “cpuquiet” or have /sys/xxx/cpu0/online ?

Here is my system information:

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
L4T Version: L4T R28.2
Jetpack 3.2

Reason for using operf instead of NVIDIA System Profiler:
I have used NVIDIA System profiler and I wasn’t able to profile all the process running on my system. I am not just interested in the timeline view( which we get info on all the running process), but looking for hotspot breakdown in all the processes running in my system. I tried annotating my code using nvtx markers but it only shows those markers in the process that I attach in the System Profiler. If there is a better way to do this, let me know!

Please let me know if anyone knows how to fix this issue!

Use the tegra kernel that comes with the driver package.

I am using Jetpack 3.2 and I thought it comes with the tegra kernel. I also cross-checked to see the version of the kernel I am using. It is 4.4.38-tegra!

Can you tell me more if I am missing something here!

Then that’s strange, CPU_HOTPLUG is compiled into the tegra kernel. Can you attach a dmesg output?

I actually have 3 TX2 and I don’t have it any of those!
