SDKManager Hangs During Installation

I am trying to setup Jetpack using SDK Manager 0.9.11.3405 for Jetson Nano. I get through flashing Nano but target SDK components installation remains pending install because I get an install error for OpenCV and VisionWorks on Host. Then, it hangs there forever. I get the following errors:

21:10:48 ERROR : OpenCV on Host : dpkg: considering removing opencv-data in favour of libopencv …
21:10:50 ERROR : OpenCV on Host : dpkg: error processing archive /home/ras/Downloads/nvidia/sdkm_downloads/libopencv_3.3.1-2-gb3f86dcd5_amd64.deb (–install):

Rerunning the SDK Manager doesn’t help but end up at the same point. Any advice on how to proceed?

Thanks,

Rasid

Hi rasid.pac,

What is your host ubuntu version?
We’re support Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04. Thanks!

18.04 it is.

Hi,

The error indicates the installation for host failed.

Suppose you want to install the libraries on the Jetson.
Do you run the sdkmanager on a x86 machine and select the install option for Jetson?

Thanks.

Yes, I run the SDKManager on 64-bit Bionic Beaver on a x86 machine (Intel i5) and select Jetson Nano for target. The host is a laptop with an ATI graphics card. Is Nvidia GPU a prerequisite for Jetson development?

Here is the complete log for the part where it tries to install Computer Vision on host. Please see where the first error occurs.

Another note is that I have ROS Melodic Morenia installed on this machine that is why it already has opencv_version, opencv_annotation, etc. files in /usr/bin which the SDKManager is trying to overwrite. I am guessing it is running into some conflict there.

Hi,

Graphics card on the host is not a request.

As you said, the error occurs here:

20:46:47 INFO : OpenCV on Host : trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/opencv_version', which is also in package libopencv-dev 3.2.0+dfsg-4ubuntu0.1
20:46:48 ERROR : OpenCV on Host : Errors were encountered while processing:

You can force the installation with -f option.

sudo dpkg -f -i /home/ras/Downloads/nvidia/sdkm_downloads/libopencv_3.3.1-2-gb3f86dcd5_amd64.deb

But this may break your ROS environment.
May I know what kind of application you want to use? OpenCV or VisionWorks?

Thanks.
