Seeking clarity on note in Jetson TX2 NX product design guide

Hope all is well. Can someone explain what this statement means, in the Jetson TX2 NX product design guide DG-10141-001_v1.2:
Longer trace lengths may be possible if the total trace loss is equal to or better than the target. If the loss is greater, the max trace lengths will need to be reduced. Thank you!

What is your question? It is the meaning of words.

You will probably see some designated impedance and/or signal level, rise/fall time, so on. I am only guessing, but this is probably what is meant…that you have to keep a certain signal quality. Longer traces make that more difficult, but steps like wider traces with more separation from other traces can sometimes improve quality from cross-talk. Even the depth of a trace increasing from plating can improve signal quality (but then again, one might need to adjust other parts of the trace to maintain impedance after thickening a trace).
