Significance of insertion loss data for DP

HI Team,

Can you please let me know the significance of insertion loss data for DP?
is it available budget or already loss happened at module end?

Thanks
Sagar

It is the budget for custom carrier routing.

Hi Trumany,

Then for HBR1 budget should be more than HBR2/3.

Thanks
Sagar

We are checking on this, will update once available.

In general, with higher frequency, we should expect higher loss. However, we just use positive value instead of negative one to represent loss number

Hi Trumany,

Still i am not able to understand in terms of routing what is the significance of it. Can you please elaborate in term of routing/simulation?

Thanks
Sagar

Hi Trumany,

Do you have any update on it?

Thanks
Sagar

Do you mean the meaning of routing here? It is for PCB layout…

Hi Trumany,

I just want to know how i can relate it with trace length? Generally insertion loss tells this much budget is left behind for routing. Can you please help me to relate in this manner?

Thanks
Sagar

Hi, you can check with PCB vendor for how to calculate that. They may provide some formula as reference.

Hi Trumany,

From this table i am not able to find the significance of this data.
Generally Insertion loss tells available budget we can route in PCB. But in this table it is telling something else which i am not able to figure out.

Thanks
Sagar

Did you see below info? You need to check with PCB vendor for that.

Hi Trumany

That is understable loss characteristics will change as per PCB vendors and their specs.

I am asking what is the significance of Insertion loss in you table.

Low speed (E-HBR) having less budget compare to high speed (HBR3).

Thanks
Sagar
