Softer shadow for direct light

Hello, I have a scene in Omniverse with a direct light and a cube on a plane. The cube has a shadom from the direct light projected on the plane.

I Want to make the shadow softer. I see that distant light has an Angle attribute which does make the shadow softer. but that attribute also creates a huge white circle??

here are some test cases:

angle = 0:

angle = 10:

angle = 100

What is the best way to soften the shadow created by a direct light?

also, how can i make the shadowed area less dark?
for example, here:

the bounderies of the shadow are more blured which is good (angle = 30) but the darkest area of teh shadow is pretty dark. How can I soften it (make it more grayish)?

I am using RTX-Real Time.

Thank you

Deselect the option to hide the sun.

You can add a domelight to reduce the black areas of the shadows.
