[SOLVED] Error while flashing DriveInstall 5.0.5.0 Linux

Hello,

I have downloaded the latest DriveInstall 5.0.5.0 from https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-drive-downloads. I have followed the steps in https://docs.nvidia.com/drive/driveinstall_docs/
The initial steps are completed and the required files are downloaded.

  1. The installation then quits and gives a “Validating Packages Failed” error. The problem persists after multiple attempts too.

During one of these attempts, the following error log was created
“Reading package lists…
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?”

Device: Drive PX 2 AutoChauffeur
HOST PC configuration: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Are there any other requirements for a Host PC? Specific to Nvidia drivers maybe.

What might be the cause of the the above error?

Thanks.

Dear serinvarghese,

It seems like your host machine couldn’t connect source link.
Could you please help to check host machine network setting?
Yes, Host machine needs NV graphic card and proper driver. Thanks.

Dear SteveNV,

The graphic card was indeed the problem. Do consider updating the DriveInstall docs with the NV graphic card and driver prerequisites.

Thanks,
Serin
