some problems about 'Creating an Example' in manual

I followed the manual step by step. But I cannot get what I want. I am a newbie. I am very grateful if you can help me.

      print *, "hello,hello"

the command line

jlcheng@jlcheng-HP-Compaq-8200-Elite-MT-PC:~/codes$ pgfortran test.f
jlcheng@jlcheng-HP-Compaq-8200-Elite-MT-PC:~/codes$ pgfortran -o test test.f
jlcheng@jlcheng-HP-Compaq-8200-Elite-MT-PC:~/codes$ test

Here should be “hello” on the scene, but nothing.

ps. English is unfamiliar for me. If the description is not clear, please ask me again. Thank you firstly.

“test” is a standard Unix/Linux command, often used with the shell to check for the existence and the properties of files, etc. The problem with naming your own executable “test” is that, if the standard utility is found earlier while searching along $PATH, that utility will be executed instead of your program.

Give your executable a different name, or use the command “./test”.

It is OK now, you are right. Very grateful for your help.
