I’m kinda new to the whole CUDA experience, but I knew that on Windows it helped with shifting things like HD video to the GPU, to alleviate the stress on the CPU. Are there currently any apps on Mac OS that support this feature?
Thanks for your help, and sorry if its a n00bish question…
You mean decoding? I believe the Quicktime framework (used by many Mac apps) already does GPU acceleration of H.264 decoding on a variety of GPUs, including NVIDIA’s. Flash also now (just came out of beta) supports hardware decoding on OS X, so if you update that plugin, you’ll also get acceleration on the GeForce 9400M and above.
For video encoding, I’m not aware of any Mac applications that use CUDA like Badaboom does on Windows.

Thanks for the reply man! I did mean decoding (sorry for not specifying)… I’ve been using Apple’s decoder for a while, but its support for formats such as MKV isn’t exactly great (Quicktime still doesnt bring the CPU low enough) but no worries, guess i’ll just have to keep hoping ;)
