Switch backup kernels at boot time

I created 3 entries in /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf and would like to use serial console to select the kernel at boot time. The Orin NX displays 3 options but won’t stop for selecting the kernels. It always boots with the first option. I’m using L4T 35.6.0 and have verified both RX and TX work for the serial console.
Thanks in advance for solutions.

Hi,

Could you provide your extlinux.conf for us to check?

Thanks

extlinux.zip (785 Bytes)
putty1.txt (1.4 KB)
extlinux.conf (I had to zip it to upload, the extlinx.conf at Orin is not zipped) and portion of the serial console log are attached. Boot did not stop at kernel selection, “1” was entered without success.

Hi,

Thank you for the attached files.
We will conduct an internal check as our device can replicate the same situation.

Thanks.

Hi,

After internal verification, when the options log is printed, please select an option by typing on the keyboard. The selected option will not be displayed in the console but will be applied. Use uname -a to confirm that a different kernel image has been selected.

Thanks

Hi @DavidDDD,
The Image did not change after selecting different kernels (1 or 2) . The main issue is boot won’t pause at kernel selection.
For earlier Jetpacks and Jetsons (Xavier NX), the boot will stop at kernel selection for 3 seconds by default.
Are you using Jetpack 5.1.4?
Thanks

It seems the issue is for Jetpack 5.1.4.
It worked for Jetpack 6.1.
