Hello NVIDIA Support Team,
I’m reaching out regarding our NVIDIA DGX Spark that is experiencing a persistent shutdown issue during OS boot.
System Info:
-
Product: NVIDIA DGX Spark
-
AMI BIOS Version: 2.25
-
BIOS Date: 12/25/2025
Issue:
The system powers off every time the OS kernel attempts to load. This occurs consistently — the system does not reboot/restart, it fully shuts down.
What We’ve Already Tried:
-
Accessed GRUB recovery menu → ran fsck (filesystem check) and dpkg (package repair) — both completed, but system still powered off on resume
-
Created bootable USB recovery drive (BOOTME) using the official CreateUSBKeyMacOS.sh script from the DGX Spark recovery image (usbimg.customer)
-
Booted from USB → firmware update (FNMP console update) completed successfully
-
Booted from USB again → selected “Install / Factory Reset” → installation completed successfully, message confirmed “Installation complete”
-
Removed USB → selected “DGX OS” from GRUB menu → NVIDIA logo appears, begins loading, then system powers off completely
-
Disabled Fast Boot in BIOS — no change
-
Let system cool down and retried — same result
Observations:
-
BIOS works normally (can navigate all settings)
-
GRUB boot menu appears (DGX OS, Advanced Options, UEFI Firmware)
-
System only powers off when the OS kernel starts loading (GPU/CPU ramp up)
-
Shutdown is abrupt — no error message displayed
-
This suggests a possible thermal protection trigger or power supply issue under load
What We Need:
-
Guidance on additional troubleshooting steps
-
Whether this indicates a hardware issue (thermal/PSU) requiring service
-
If there are BIOS-level diagnostics we can run to confirm
