System Settings > Sound not working properly

Hi all, random question but when i flashed my Jetson to R21.2 I no longer see any devices in my sound settings under system settings. Alsamixer works just fine and shows attached devices - i tried purging and reinstalling alsa and pulseaudio. Anybody have any suggestions? Again, everything works from the CLI just fine using arecord or aplay but it would be nice to have the gui sound preerences to work again. thanks!

R21.3 R21.4 [corrected] is the newest, but verify the install via:

sha1sum -c /etc/nv_tegra_release

Also, is your output device via the HDMI or via the audio headphone type connector? What is your exact test command?

Actually 21.4 is now the newest. I recommend testing with that instead of 21.2, although it’s unlikely that it’s about that.

If the command line apps work, then I’m guessing there’s something wrong with pulseaudio, but I don’t know what it could be.

Do you have multiple USB audio cards connected? Does the GUI show the internal audio device if you disconnect all USB devices and reboot?

I can try going to 21.4 but i don’t think that will fix the issue - it seems like pulseaudio is acting up.

I do not have multiple USB audio cards at the moment - i disconnected them and rebooted to make sure. The Sound setting under System Settings does not see the internal (onboard) audio device. Again, if i use aplay and specify that device (via cli) then it works just fine. It appears as though the gui is acting up.
