"System throttled due to over-current" occurs from Jetpack 5.1.1!

Hi

I am using Jetson AGX Orin Dev Kit (64GB). I was using JetPack5.0.2. But yesterday,
I flashed JetPack5.1.1.
Then, I changed the Power mode to MAXN and started using OpenAI’s Whisper.
Now there’s a problem.

There is no problem with JetPack 5.0.2, but System throttled due to over-current occurs with JetPack 5.1.1.
Why is this! ?

Has JetPack5.1.2 fixed this problem?

Hi,
It is possible since since all engines are in maximum throughput in MAXN mode. If multiple engines are drained high current, it may exceed the constraint. We would suggest try 30W mode or 50W and see if it hits over current while running the use-case. The default power modes are listed in
Jetson Orin Nano Series, Jetson Orin NX Series and Jetson AGX Orin Series — Jetson Linux Developer Guide documentation

Furthermore, you can define a power mode for the use-case to balance power and performance.

I checked in 30W mode and 50W mode. No issues occurred in 30W mode.
However, in 50W mode, “System throttled due to over-current occurs” occurred.

The next approach I should take is to custom add ID=4 to the /etc/nvpmodel.conf file and find my own configuration that doesn’t cause “System throttled due to over-current occurs”?

Do you have any other good ideas?

Yes, we would suggest base on 50W mode to customize a power mode for the use-case. To cap maximum frequency of CPU or GPU engines to get target throughput without triggering over current.
