T5000 Module Power Optimisation

Hi,

We have developed using both the Orin and Thor platforms and noticed that at idle, the Orin modules draw significantly less power than the Thor. From our quick measurements,
Orin NX 8GB - ~5 W idle
Orin AGX 64GB - ~7W idle
AGX Thor (T5000) - ~16W idle
We have tried disabling multiple cores and reducing the frequency to force the active cores to the minimum via the nvpmodel config, however this hasn’t reduced the idle draw. Are there any recommended optimisations that can be done on the Thor module to bring the idle consumption closer to the Orin?

Hello @andrei49

You can take a look at this AGX Thor Performance Tuning guide: NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor - Performance tuning by setting the CPU, GPU, and Frequency values . It covers additional optimizations such as GPU rail-gating, EMC frequency tuning, and checking BPMP bandwidth requests that may be keeping the system from reaching lower-power idle states.
